I’ve been cooking with my friends now for about eight years. It’s hard to believe how fast the time has flown by. It has carried me gently through the years as an activity that not only enables me to get food on the family dinner table, but has also helped blossom my relationships with friends.
It’s hard for me to get together with friends now and not cook. I manage to squeeze cooking into all of my relationships. Whether it’s cooking chicken tenders and tomato sauce with Debbie for our kids to gobble up, or making dumplings and summer rolls with Christina, or making breakfast foods like granola and scones with Suzy and Jackie, I’m always cooking with friends! For holidays, parties, family dinners, snacks, babies, a friend who is going through a difficult time, a friend who just had a new baby, bake sales, the Human Needs Food Pantry. It’s really so much more fun and rewarding to cook with someone else than alone.
My friends are a necessary ingredient for all of my recipes. It’s time so well spent, catching up each other’s lives while creating wonderful meals for my own family and friends.
People started asking me left and right to cook with them. I guess the cooking with friends phenomenon is pretty contagious. Although I really would cook with everyone, there’s just simply not enough time in a single day, week or month to cook with absolutely everyone. That’s why I decided to start The Cooking with Friends Club, a community of people who can share ideas and plan cooking together dates. It warms my heart and soul to hear when people get together and cook. I love hearing their stories and ideas. Please share yours.
