Yesterday, my dumpling making pal, Christina, called to say she was heading out to the Asian market. She offered to get me some dumpling wrappers. I immediately accepted, but then declined since the wrappers really should be used in the next day or two and I was heading out of town for a few days. This small incident may seem insignificant to some, but it highlights a fairly important aspect of Cooking with Friends. When cooking with a certain friend becomes a habitual part of your life, it becomes normal to think of that friend whenever you’re planning to make a certain food. For Christina and I, dumplings are the trigger food. It’s natural for us to think of each other when shopping for ingredients and impossible not to think of each other when making them alone. Not only did Christina offer to shop with me, but she promised to give me a sampling of her dumplings. Even when you’re not able to cook with your friend, you’ll still reap some benefits! If you are interested in making dumplings, Christina’s recipe is on the site.
