With all of the excitement in our house getting ready for the “Souper Bowl” — our freezers so stuffed with quarts and quarts of soup that the doors barely close – it was only natural for my seven year daughter to want in.
That’s why five little friends and ten little hands chopped vegetables, snapped beans and stirred soup together in my kitchen. They were so enthusiastic and committed that even when their eyes began to tear from onions, instead of giving up, they improvised and wore goggles and sunglasses! With cabbage, green beans, carrots, herbs, celery, onions and potatoes scattered from table to floor, giggles and shrills filled the room. It was pure chaos, but well worth it.
I had a lot of cleaning up to do, but five little girls learned a valuable life lesson about the importance of taking time to give to others. They also experienced Cooking with Friends — laughing, creating and having fun while sharing time together in the kitchen. That’s what it’s all about.
