The other day, I came home to a beautiful yet messy surprise. My almost 8 year old daughter and her 10 year old friend were in the midst of making Gingerbread cookies — from scratch and by themselves. Apparently, they went to the Cooking with Friends website, downloaded the recipe for Gingerbread, and made several stops at my neighbor’s house to borrow such items as ginger and molasses. Then together, these two friends measured, mixed and stirred. I held in any remarks about the mess and instead, tidied things up for them and jumped right in rolling the dough. As they cut every shape imaginable from our box of decorative cookie cutters, I knew that my cooking with friends sermons had been heard by a new generation.

Hi I’m Caroline the 10 year old. My great friend Sofia and I made the cookies. At first we didn’t add the flour, I didn’t know how it was going to be dough! It was great fun and you should try it too!
