All across Denver, our kitchens are about to smell of heavenly homemade bread, the yeasty, floury aroma that’s become pretty rare at home these days.
We’re gearing up for a bread swap. Here’s how it works: We’ll get together in teams of two and bake three loaves of bread, one each for the bakers to split and two to bring to a swap. Then we’ll all (about 12 of us) gather at Amy’s house to trade the gorgeous loaves, our recipes and stories about cooking together.
A bread swap takes a little bit of mathematical thought–planning for the rising times as well as the baking. I’m so thrilled to gather with my friends and bake, then break bread.
