It’s the first week of a New Year, and like many of you, I have some foodie resolutions. One is to help improve the school lunches at my daughter’s school and to learn more about programs like Edible Schoolyard and Farm to School (check out www.farmtoschool.org–it’s in 40 states). Wouldn’t it be amazing if all students had access to healthy, affordable lunches and local farmers provided the delicious food?
Another one of my favorite resolutions I heard this week is from Samantha Saffir Barnes, who runs Kitchen Kid, a childrens’ cooking school in Santa Monica, Calif. (and is a Cooking With Friends Yahoo group member). Samantha challenges us to make 2009 the “Year of the Family Kitchen” by cooking dinner together as a family one night a week. Samantha’s site is www.kitchenkid.com and her blog can be found at www.GrowingUpGourmet.com. What a great way to start the year.
Let us know your resolutions too!
