My friend came over recently for us to plan and plot our homemade edible gifts. Some of our ideas (not that we’ll do them all!) included Hot Cocoa Mix, Salsa Mix, Rose Sugar, Infused Oils, and Chocolate Lollipops. We talked about how many gifts we’ll need (for friends, teachers, etc.), how we’d like to package them, and hunted around on my laptop for good container deals and ingredients, all while having coffee and catching up. We’ve got another date on the calendar to assemble the presents we’ve decided on. Talk about low-stress shopping.
We also gave each other new ideas. She let me in on a tip that our local fabric store sells bags of beautiful ribbon leftovers (perfect for tying onto jars, packages and gifts throughout the year), at 77 cents for a bag of 30 2-yard ribbons. I had found a web site where you can easily create custom labels for your gifts (see my photo). The site is www.canningpantry.com.
Make sure to check out our Edible Gift newsletter that came out Dec. 1 for more ideas and three recipes. If you are not on the list, sign up on our home page.
It’s not too late to grab a friend, chat about gifts, and make them together!
