Chronicles of a Postage Stamp Gardener: Spring Break Magic

I was away for just three days and it’s amazing what has grown in that short amount of time! I have kale and two kinds of peas sprouting, in addition to the lettuce that budded last week. I guess when I plunk myself down and just stare at it (yes I did that!) not much seems to happen. It’s like watching a pot of water come to a boil. But so much has grown in the past few days that I think it may be a bit too crowded in some places. Then again, since the Postage Stamp Garden approach requires planting the seeds a little closer than in traditional gardens, I’ll worry about my spacing later and thin my plants out.

I guess I should mention a potential gardening glitch. There’s one small quadrant of my garden that seems to be growing at a much slower pace. In fact, I don’t see any signs of life just yet. I’m beginning to worry that maybe I forgot to plant anything in that area. I’ll give it a few more days and if nothing comes up, I’ll just plant something else there.
