I enjoyed a sweet but quick time baking yesterday with my friend Jackie. Chocolate Valentine’s Day bark (don’t tell my kids!) and cinnamon biscotti were the treats du jour yesterday, something quick and something slow. Both were simple and delicious. Nothing beats homemade sweets for Valentine’s Day, the time and care creating edible gifts makes giving them that much more special. And when it involves chocolate, M&M’s, sprinkles and cinnamon hearts, how can you go wrong??
If you’re looking for something that doesn’t take a lot of time to make but will surely be enjoyed by everyone, try making Valentine’s Day chocolate bark.
Chocolate Valentine’s Day Bark
3 bars (12 ounces) Ghirardelli (or other) semi-sweet chocolate
2 ounces white chocolate
Desired decorations (conversation hearts, sprinkles, M&M’s, cinnamon hearts)
In a microwave safe bowl, melt semi-sweet chocolate on high for one minute and then in 30 second intervals until chocolate is melted.
On a parchment paper lined baking sheet, spread the chocolate evenly. Press desired candy for decoration. Melt the white chocolate in the microwave on high for one minute until smooth. Transfer to a zipper sandwich bag, seal and cut a small hole in one of the corners. Squeeze and drizzle white chocolate onto the decorations.
Chill in the refrigerator (or outside if it’s cold!) until the chocolate has hardened. Break into pieces and store in a container lined with parchment paper.
